Dr. Charnetta Gadling-Gadling earned her Ph.D. at Howard University School of Social Work, her MSW from the University of South Carolina and her BA in psychology at Johnson C. Smith University. She has over 20 years of national and international experience in program/policy development and grant-writing. Dr. Gadling-Cole was appointed as a scientist in 5 Centers at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Including being the first social work disciplined scientist to be appointed to the UAB Center for AIDS Research. She also served as a founding member and Assistant Director for the UAB Office of Global Social Service Research and Center for Global Social Service Research at Alabama A&M University. Dr. Gadling-Cole has served as a Fellow at the National Institute of Health, UAB NIH funded Minority Health and Health Disparity Research Training Program and the Michigan Center for Urban African American Aging Research. She has served as the Principal Investigator and a consultant for qualitative and quantitative global research. She implemented family group conference models for Medicaid reimbursed intensive family interventions programs. She has extensive experience working with diverse families and communities developing culturally sensitive intervention strategies. Dr. Gadling-Cole has served in a variety of capacities for funded research opportunities. She is a Editor of an African American Women Book Series and the Editor In Chief of the Journal of Gender, Information and Development in Africa.
