Since that time, she has worked for the North Kansas City School District in the early childhood special education setting. Ashley accepted an itinerant position for the 2015-2016 school year and currently serves in Title 1 preschool classrooms. In January 2015, Ashley completed her Doctorate of Education with an emphasis in Special Education. Her research explored the barriers to the implementation of augmentative and alternative communication in the school setting. Ashley enjoys spending her time her husband and three children, as well as cooking and serving the community with her church.
