Dr. Heyliger began his academic career in 1982 on the finance faculty at Howard University, teaching corporate and international finance. He later served on the finance faculties at the College of William and Mary and East Tennessee State University as well as Norfolk State University, where he also headed the Department of Finance and Marketing. He chaired the Department of Business Administration and was director of special projects and economic development in the president’s office at Morris Brown College in Atlanta; was a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta; and was chair and professor of economics at Atlanta Metropolitan College. Dr. Heyliger’s scholarly research in banking has been published in The Review of Black Political Economy, the Review of Business and Economics, and the Journal of Small Business Finance. He joined the DBA faculty at Walden in January 2011. Dr Heyliger has served on the boards of Lutheran Services of Georgia, the Metropolitan Atlanta Private Industry Council, and two community development corporations.
