Dr. Turpin has over 30 years of experience in K-12 education. She was a science teacher for 16 years and worked in school administrative services for 15 years. She recently retired from an urban school district where she served as the director of Federal Programs including Title I for 12 years. She directed all federal funding coming into the district of 10,000 students and a poverty rate of 85%. This is an urban, city school district. She now works as an education consultant for a school improvement company, working in struggling schools for improved performance as well as teaching and mentoring for Walden.
Dr. Turpin has been on faculty of Walden for 11 years serving as a mentor for many successful doctoral students. Her areas if content expertise include K-12 instruction, accountability, secondary instruction, reading, and school leadership.
