Katina Lang-Lindsey, Ph.D., LMSW is a Part-Time Contributing Faculty in the Master of Social Work Program at Walden University. She received her doctorate in 2016 from Jackson State University. In concert, Dr. Lang-Lindsey has worked for the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) for over ten years in the capacity of both a Social Work Researcher and Nephrology Social Worker. Under the Nephrology Department at UMMC, she coordinated a grant funded by the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Minority Health. Also, she was the project coordinator on several research studies which include; Delta Regional Institute, Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and the Mississippi Institute for Improve of Geographical Minority Health. Her research broadly focuses on improving the quality of life of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Her work includes using peer mentors who are patients to influence better health behaviors and health knowledge among those with renal disease. Katina’s work seeks to employ psychosocial interventions that address these unique determinants of health.
Dr. Lang-Lindsey’s has work in social work practice for over 20 years. Some of her experience includes: Dialysis, Discharge Planning, Abuse & Neglect Crisis line, Foster Care, Foster Care Recruiter, Forensic Social Work, Mental Health, Gerontology, work with Unaccompanied Refugees Adults & Minors, CHIP/Medicare Outreach, worked as a Field Researcher with the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago, Mental Health with ICF/MR Facilities. She serves as a member-at-large for the Network 8 Inc. ESRD organization, Patient Advisory Committee (PAC) and Medical Review Board. She serves as a member of the Kidney Patient Advisory Council (KPAC), serves as a Ambassador for the State of Alabama for the American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP), an Ambassador the State of Alabama with Patient Center Outcomes Research ORI (PCORI) and treasurer of the Nelum’s Foundation of Mississippi for Social Work Students.
