Dr. Deaton has worked in the area of Human Factors Psychology for over 35 years. He is a full-time professor and Dean at a local Orlando university and is responsible for conducting most of the human factors classes as well as leading research efforts in that area. Dr. Deaton's primary degree (Ph.D.) is in Applied Experimental Psychology, but he also has a Master's degree in Theology. Dr. Deaton is an adjunct Professor at Walden, and generally teaches the research method courses and statistics. He has interests in aviation psychology, human performance, cockpit automation, long-term space flight issues, psychology and religion, cross-cultural psychology, intelligent tutoring systems (training), and NEXTGEN technologies (future commercial aircraft technologies). Dr. Deaton is a retired Navy Commander, having worked in the military as an Experimental Aviation Psychologist, which entailed the completion of basic flight training.
