Dr. Esther Ogunjimi is an Assistant Professor and Field Practicum Coordinator at Prairie View A&M University and a Contributing Faculty at Walden University. She received her Ph.D in Health Services/Community Health at Walden University. She received Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Texas Arlington and her BSW degree from Texas Southern University. Dr. Ogunjimi is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Clinical Supervisor (LCSW-S). She is with several years of work experience within Texas Public Health agencies and Hospitals. She has extensive work experience with Children with Special Health Care Needs, Psychiatric, and Geriatric populations. Dr. Ogunjimi research interest focuses on understanding the intersection between population health and social networks. Her recent HIV/AIDS research focuses on African immigrant population in Texas.
Dr. Ogunjimi started a community health program in Nigeria focusing on promotion of physical and mental health and provision of social services. She also serves as a peer reviewer for the Journal of Mental health and Social Behavior. Dr. Ogunjimi is a Member of the National Association of Black Social Workers. She is a member of the Houston Ryan White HIV Comprehensive Planning Committee.
