Dr. Carol (Charlie) Barton’s formal training is in business management where she has served in a variety of roles and industries in the United States and abroad. Dr. Barton is President of a consulting firm that helps businesses adopt Baldrige business excellence practices. At Walden University, she is a Postdoctoral Teaching and Research Fellow in the College of Management and Technology.
Dr. Barton’s current research interests focus on enabling small businesses to adopt sustainable business practices and how people’s stories affect whether the organization as a whole will successfully transform from its current way of working to the new ideal. She has presented at a Walden University symposium, at the American Society for Quality World Conference on Quality and Improvement, and via webinar to various organizations. Dr. Barton has had a primer on Appreciation of a System published by the Human Development and Leadership division of the American Society for Quality. In 2017 she was recognized with the Leadership Excellence Award for the College of Management and Technology. Dr. Barton volunteers her time as a Senior Examiner for the Arkansas Governor’s Quality Award, which is based on the Baldrige Excellence Framework.
