Ziwei Qi

Dr. Ziwei Qi is a Contributing Faculty member in Criminal Justice at Walden University. She has more than ten years of teaching, research, and professional experience in criminal justice and the social sciences. Her formal teaching areas include criminology, victimology, victim advocacy, gender-based violence, comparative justice systems, trauma-informed practice, and criminal justice policy.
Dr. Qi’s research focuses on victimization, rural justice, gender-based violence, survivor-centered systems, trauma-informed court practices, access to justice, and community-based responses to harm. Her work brings together criminal justice, public health, and community-engaged research to better understand how systems can respond to survivors and underserved communities with greater fairness, accountability, and care.
Professionally, Dr. Qi has collaborated with advocates, courts, libraries, health organizations, public agencies, and community partners on projects related to rural service access, victim support, and justice system reform. She has served as a federal peer reviewer, guest editor for scholarly work on trauma-informed court practices, and lead investigator on externally funded research and community-engaged projects. Her major accomplishments include developing survivor-centered research tools, building cross-sector partnerships, mentoring student researchers, and contributing scholarship on victimization, resilience, rural communities, and justice system responses.
