The BS in Integrative Health curriculum focuses on evidence-informed approaches to wellness, behavior change, and whole-person care—while giving you a clear, achievable path to degree completion.
Students without an Associate’s degree, will need to complete an additional 90 credits of General Education courses for a total of 181 credits
This course provides an in-depth exploration of integrative healthcare models, focusing on the integration of conventional and complementary therapies to promote holistic well-being. Students will examine various models of care, including whole health, patient-centered, and team-based approaches. The course covers the theoretical frameworks, safety, efficacy, and evidence base for a range of integrative therapies such as acupuncture, herbal medicine, mind-body practices, and nutritional interventions.
This course provides an overview of complementary and alternative healthcare practices. Students will explore various non-mainstream health approaches, including natural products (herbs, vitamins, minerals, probiotics) and mind-body practices (yoga, chiropractic, osteopathic manipulation, meditation, acupuncture, breathing exercises). The course will examine the historical and cultural contexts of these practices, their integration with conventional medicine, and the evidence supporting their efficacy and safety.
This course is a study of human anatomy and physiology, which is the structure and function of bodily systems. The course begins with an analysis of cellular processes and tissue structures and then explores the 11 major systems of the human body. Students focus specifically on the regulatory functions of the body that maintain homeostasis and how disruptions in homeostasis may result in injury and/or disease. This course is designed for a general education undergraduate audience.
This course provides an in-depth exploration of evidence-based practices within the field of integrative and holistic healthcare. Students will examine the scientific foundations and clinical applications of various integrative therapies, including acupuncture, mind-body interventions, and energy-healing therapies—as well as the role of mental health and spirituality—in health and healing. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the principles of holistic health, the integration of conventional and complementary therapies, and the importance of patient-centered care. Students will develop the skills necessary to critically evaluate and implement integrative health practices in diverse healthcare settings
Health and wellness involve more than physical symptoms and diseases. This dynamic course gives students the opportunity to explore the field of health psychology, with a focus on how physical, psychological, social, cultural, economic, and spiritual factors impact health and determine health outcomes. Throughout the course, students examine the importance of health disparities and health literacy, explore strategies for promoting health-enhancing behaviors, and apply health psychology research to various health issues. Students also apply their learning to the development of their own health goals. The course culminates in a case study that synthesizes students’ learning from the previous weeks.

Integrative health is an approach to health and wellness that focuses on the whole person while grounding care in evidence-based practices. It emphasizes how physical health, mental and emotional well-being, behavior, and lifestyle factors work together to support long-term wellness. Integrative health professionals focus on prevention, health education, and empowering individuals to make informed, sustainable health decisions.
Walden’s BS in Integrative Health is a degree-completion program designed for students who already hold an associate degree. Time to completion varies based on transfer credits accepted, course load, and individual circumstances, but many students should be able to complete their bachelor’s degree faster than starting from the beginning.
Graduates may pursue roles in health and wellness-related settings such as community organizations, corporate wellness programs, fitness and recreation environments, and healthcare-adjacent organizations. Career paths may include wellness coordinator, health and wellness coach, recreation specialist, or health education-related roles.
