In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Veleka Grady began as a Contributing Faculty member with the College of Health Sciences in the School of Nursing in 2020. She earned a Bachelors of Science in Biology from Jackson State University in Jackson, MS in 2002 and a Doctorate of Pharmacy from Xavier University of New Orleans, LA in 2006. Dr. Grady has practiced as a licensed pharmacist in the state of Mississippi since 2006 and is a Board Certified Geriatric Pharmacist. She currently serves as both the Dispensing and Consultant Pharmacist at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Jackson, MS.
Dr. Grady has experience in retail, independent, hospital outpatient, and consultant pharmacy. Dr. Grady began facilitating courses in 2009 and has many years of experience in teaching in both the online and traditional classroom setting. She also has several years of experience in mentoring pharmacy students and was selected CVS Health Region 69 Preceptor of the Year in 2017 and Region 52 District 2 Paragon Award Winner in 2018.
Dr. Grady holds memberships in the American Pharmacists Association, the Mississippi Pharmacists Association, and the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists.
