Tina Craddock

Dr. Craddock received her B.S. in Criminal Justice from Elizabeth City State University. She received her M.S. in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati, and Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from Nova Southeastern University. She also holds a M.A. in English Literature and graduate certificates in Security Studies and Forensic Science/CSI. While completing her graduate studies, Dr. Craddock worked as a NC State Child Support Enforcement Agent and a family law paralegal. She has been in higher education for a total of 15 years both in part-time and full-time roles. Dr. Craddock has been a full-time faculty member at Elizabeth City State University since August 2019 and served as Department Chair from 2023 until 2026. In 2024, Dr. Craddock was awarded the Departmental Teacher of the Year award. She is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Protective and Human Services where she teaches courses in Criminal Justice and Homeland Security. Her research interests include gender/racial inequality, implicit bias in the criminal justice system, effectiveness of collaborative/specialty courts, and the impact of critical incidents in law enforcement. She has published in a variety of discipline-related peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Veterans Studies; Journal of Police & Criminal Psychology; Journal of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress; and the Oral History Review. Additionally, she has presented original work at both the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences (ACJS) and American Society of Criminology (ASC) annual conferences. She is currently serving on the ACJS New Scholar Awards- Awards Committee as well as the ACJS Mentoring Committee. She is QM and ACUE certified. In 2023, Dr. Craddock completed the Penn Resilience Trainer’s Training and in 2024 completed the ACJS Academic Standards & External Program Reviewer Training Certification.
