In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Tiffany M. Crayton deeply values creating a space that awakens one’s bravery. A space that is free of shame and helps others discover their true authentic selves. Dr. Crayton is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)-Supervisor, National Certified Counselor, and a Developmental Relational Trauma Therapist. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the states of Oklahoma, Texas, and Virginia. In addition to serving as a secondary school counselor for over 17 years, she continues to work with children, adolescents, couples, and families on various life-impacting issues in her private practice. Dr. Crayton specializes in working with those who have experienced trauma, intimate partner violence, sexual abuse, anxiety, depression, LGBTQIA+ experiences, and recognizing their inherent worth and value of self.
Her education experience includes a doctorate in Counselor Education and supervision with a concentration in Crisis and Trauma from Walden University, a Master of Education in School Counseling from the University of Central Oklahoma, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Central Oklahoma. Additionally, she is a trained trauma therapist, a multicultural competent counselor, and a certified PK-12 school counselor in the state of Virginia, and formerly certified in the states of Texas and Oklahoma. Dr. Crayton has taught courses at Lamar University, Criswell College, and Southern New Hampshire University.
Dr. Crayton is a strong believer in our inherent worth and value as human beings by simply embracing who we are. Dr. Crayton is a servant leader of change and is passionate about improving the lives of others. Dr. Crayton believes in the authentic power of the individual, and that through the importance of a true therapeutic counseling relationship, healing can happen. She is excited about continuing to work with the faculty, staff, and students at Walden U. Let the journey begin!
