Dr. Parenteau has been a practicing nurse since 1980. She received her associate of nursing (ASN) from Palm Beach Community College in 1980. Over the next ten years, she had her two children and completed her Baccalaureate of Nursing (BSN) from Barry University, graduating in 1990. She received her Master of Science (MSN) in 2006 from Nova Southeastern University (NSU) online master’s program with a focus in Nursing Education. In January of 2012, she started the Doctor of Nursing (DNP) program. She successfully implemented and defended her project, Promoting Exclusive Breastfeeding for the First Six Months of Life, in July 2014 graduating in August 2014.

She has been teaching in the clinical, face-to-face, and online setting since January 1990, first in an associate degree program, baccalaureate program, and now in graduate and doctoral programs. Her clinical experience/background is in medical-surgical nursing, critical care, and labor and delivery. Her areas of research interest include maternal child health and well-being and inclusive education.

Dr. Parenteau strives to facilitate an inclusive classroom where students are respected and encouraged to express themselves in a professional, respectful nature. She looks forward to joining each of you on your academic journey, meeting you where you are.
