Dr. Blount obtained her Ph.D. in Counseling and Counselor Education from North Carolina State University. Dr. Blount has been a Counselor Educator for 7 years and a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor for 16 years. Before transitioning into higher education, Dr. Blount worked as a Professional School Counselor and as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, serving children and adolescents with mental health disorders. Her research interests examines school-based mental health services, substance use recovery among African American women, college and career readiness among urban youth, expressive art techniques in counseling, and promoting supervisees’ wellness.
