Dr. Sowitza Johnson serves as the BSW Field Director at Walden University. Prior to her position at Walden University-Barbara Solomon School of Social Work, she worked at Mississippi Valley State University-Department of Social Work as an Assistant Professor and Delta State University-Department of Social Work as an Instructor. In addition, she has over 22+ years of experience working in various settings of social work. She has been employed with Alliance Behavior Health Center (Meridian, MS), Life Help Mental Health Center (Greenwood, MS), Youth Villages-MYPAC Program (Jackson, MS) and consulted with local public-school districts as a Positive Behavioral Intervention Specialist.

Dr. Johnson has made local, state and national presentations for many professional social work groups, most recently on Homeless Families with Children. She is a Licensed Master Social Worker, dedicated to educating students on community-based social work.
