Sonia Xavier

I am a board-certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with over 18 years of clinical experience, currently serving in clinical and leadership roles as a Hospitalist and team leader with the Orthopeadic Surgical Advanced Practice Group at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. I completed my Doctorate in Nursing Practice at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 2024. My doctoral work focused on implementing a screening and referral system to optimize bone health for patients with fragility fractures. Over the span of my career, I have mentored and delivered educational instructions to nurses and advanced practice students. I am committed to cultivating the next generation of nursing leaders and scholarship through encouraging academic growth, mentorship, and leadership.
