Dr. Shauntisha Pilgrim is a Licensed Social Worker in Maryland. She earned a Master of Social Work and a Doctor of Education in Higher Education with a focus on Community College Leadership from Morgan State University.

Dr. Pilgrim is a Contributing Faculty member at Walden University in the Barbara Solomon School of Social Work and Human Services. She has over 11 years of experience as a Social Worker and five years of higher education experience. She has taught generalist social work practice courses and MSW Field Education courses. Dr. Pilgrim has extensive experience working with children, youth, young adults, and families. She spent many years working with teen parents and young adults, preparing them for college and independence after being in the foster care system. Dr. Pilgrim also has admissions and student affairs experience in higher education.

Dr. Pilgrim has a focus on engagement, persistence, and retention of graduate students. Her scholarship interest centers on understanding the needs of students in higher education, particularly marginalized populations, and how institutions can meet their needs to foster success.
