In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Shabnam McQuerrey received her Doctor of Nursing Practice, along with her MSN in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing, at the University of Delaware. She currently serves as an adjunct instructor in the College of Nursing at Walden University since January of 2023. Dr. McQuerrey holds APRN licenses in the states of Delaware issued 9/29/2019 (L8-0000203), New Hampshire issued 9/21/2022 (089605-21), and Minnesota issued 1/13/2023 (9885). In addition, she holds her DEA and CSR certifications in the state of Delaware. She also maintains her RN licenses in the state of Delaware (multi-state) issued 8/10/2012 (L1-0042379) and Minnesota issued 12/23/2022 (2509552). Prior to practicing as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, she worked in both Surgical/Trauma ICU and Neonatal ICU settings and continues to hold her Alumnus CCRN certification. This dynamic professional background led her to focus her doctoral work on mental health literacy for critical care nurses in non-mental health medical settings. Dr. McQuerrey has been published in the Journal of Psychosocial Nursing and Mental Health Services.
