In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Sam Weissrock is an Industrial/Organizational Psychologist and Healthcare Transformation Leader dedicated to advancing human-centered leadership and organizational change across the healthcare continuum. She integrates organizational psychology, systems science, and behavioral research to help healthcare leaders align strategy, culture, and performance with an emphasis on at-risk and underserved populations.
At Walden University, Dr. Weissrock serves as Contributing Faculty in Healthcare Management. She also teaches at the University of Louisville, where she educates undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate students on the complexities of the U.S. healthcare system, including value-based care, continuous quality improvement, and social determinants of health. Prior to teaching in the academic sector, Dr. Weissrock led a corporate training organization focused on provider enablement and engagement.
Her professional experience includes over two decades of directing enterprise-level organizations in the healthcare sector that enabled interoperability, value-based care, and organizational agility. As a strategic consultant, she continues to coach healthcare professionals on evidence-based change, mental health, and leadership development, with a focus on sustainable systems and workforce resilience.
Her research explores the relationship between language, leadership, and meaning-making—captured in her dissertation, A Text Analysis of Meaning in Research on Gender, Language, and Leadership. Dr. Weissrock holds a Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology and an M.S. in Psychology from Walden University, as well as master’s and bachelor’s degrees in Liberal Arts from Indiana University. She is also a Certified Consultant with the Association of Internal Management Consultants, a SAFe Practice Consultant, and a Six Sigma Green Belt.
