In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr Orner has served 9 years in the Army Reserves as a biomedical engineer and has worked in healthcare management, marketing, and IT roles for the past 20 years. Past experiences include Operations Manager, Manager of Governance, and Manager of Clinical Engineering with a large non-profit healthcare organization with responsibility for 15 hospitals and 200 medical clinics. His background also includes holding the title of National Director of Field Service and the Technical Assistance Center for a medical device manufacturer with over 100 employees reporting directly and indirectly to him. In addition to his corporate responsibilities, he has been an online adjunct since 2006.
Dr. Orner holds a PhD in Business Administration, MBA in Marketing, MS in Information Technology Management, and a BS in Individualized Studies. He also completed a Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Risk Management from the University of Florida and Six Sigma Lean training at the University of South Florida. He also holds multiple IT and process improvement certifications including Lean Bronze Certification, Six Sigma Green Belt, SCRUM Open, MTA, MCSE, MCSA, Network+, A+, Server+, Security+, i-Net+, Healthcare IT Technician, Project+, and Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) - Supply Chain Management Principles.
