In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Patti Urso has served as full time graduate faculty and the academic coordinator for the Nurse Educator Track in the MSN Program at Walden University since 2009. She is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as an Adult Nurse Practitioner and has been engaged in advanced practice for more than 20 years . Prior to advanced practice Dr. Urso had extensive experience as a registered nurse in multiple specialties, including medical surgical, orthopedics, home health, operating room and flight nursing as a commissioned officer in the United States Air Force. Her nursing education career spans for more than two decades at both the undergraduate and graduate levels of nursing and is certified by the National League for Nurses an academic nurse educator. Dr. Urso has presented papers in numerous, local and national conferences and has published in prestigious nursing education and clinical journals on various topics. She is an alumnus from the American Nurses Association Minority Fellowship Program and has been a recipient of training awards by the National Cancer Institute. Dr. Urso is a grant reviewer for the Health Resources and Service Administration (HRSA) and a site visitor for the Commision on Collegiate Nursing Education. I hold a
PhD in Nursing from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. My other graduate
and undergraduate education was completed in South Florida at the
University of Miami and at Florida International University.
