Nisha Mathews, PhD, RN, PNAP

Dr. Nisha Mathews is a nurse scientist and educator with expertise in minority health, social determinants of health, nursing education, artificial intelligence, mental health, and global health. She earned her PhD in Nursing Science from Texas Woman’s University’s Nelda C. Clark College of Nursing, Houston, where she was the recipient of the 2020 Virginia Chandler Dykes Scholarship. Dr. Mathews currently serves as Contributing Faculty in the College of Nursing (MSN Program) at Walden University. She has an extensive record of scholarly dissemination, with consistent presentations at international, national, and regional conferences, as well as publications in peer-reviewed journals. A national and international nursing leader, Dr. Mathews served as the immediate past Chair of the Research and Grants Committee of the National Association of Indian Nurses of America from 2023–2024 and currently serves as Chair of the Editorial Committee. She is a Scholar in the International Honor Society of Nursing (Sigma Theta Tau International) Academic Leadership Academy and is the 2024 recipient of the Sigma/ANCC Evidence-Based Practice Implementation Grant. Her funded research reflects a strong commitment to advancing health equity, cultural competence, and evidence-based nursing practice, particularly among underserved populations. Dr. Mathews’ work integrates community engagement with rigorous scholarship to inform policy, practice, and education.
