In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Myrlene Merveille obtained her Doctorate Degree in Nursing at Florida International University in August 2021. Her specialization is in Psychiatric Nursing. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, American Psychiatric Nurses Association, American Nurses Association, Haitian American Nurse Association, and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She has served as clinical preceptor for nurse practitioner students at Walden University and Wilkes University. Dr. Merveille has worked as an adjunct faculty at the Notre Dame University in Haiti for 4 years before moving to the United States. She has also worked as a consultant for Good Shepperd Psychiatric Consulting. Dr. Merveille holds a certification and license as a psychiatric nurse practitioner in the State of Florida and in the State of Minnesota. She is currently working as an adjunct faculty at Walden University where she is serving as clinical instructor and didactic instructor for nurse practitioner students. At Walden, Dr Merveille guides students through their assignments. Most importantly, Dr. Merveille helps her students develop the knowledge, competencies, and skills they need to become proficient in the management of patients with mental health disorders across the lifespan. Professionally, Dr. Merveille is working as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner for Jackson Health System. She has a publication titled: Improving Depression Screening for Clinical Staff in a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Facility: A Quality Improvement Project presented at Florida International University in June 2021.
