In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Mindy “Dr. BE” Eaves received her Doctorate in Social Work in 2018 at University of St. Thomas where teaching is practice. She currently serves as Contributing Faculty at Walden University since Fall 2024. She is a Whitney M. Young Scholar, Advisory Board Member of Continued, Partner at B & B Consulting, author of From the Schoolhouse to the Prison Yard: Discipline Disparities in K-12 Public Schools, A Call for Transformational Change and co-editor of The A to Z Self-Care Handbook for Social Workers and other Helping Professionals.
Dr. BE taught critical thinking, policy, integrative practice, diversity, and rural social work. Professionally, Dr. BE is licensed by the Kentucky Board of Social Work and has over twenty years of experience in the areas of ombudsing, leadership, administration, social work education, child welfare, community mental health, and advocacy. Her passion is equity, teaching and sustainability of social workers with specific attention to disparity, black identity, cultural inclusivity, and practicing radical self-care as a guiding principle.
