Michele Rountree

Dr. Michele A. Rountree is a social work scholar, educator, and community-based researcher with more than 30 years of experience in higher education, research, and social work practice. She currently serves as Adjunct Doctoral Faculty at Walden University. Her expertise includes community-based participatory research, health equity, HIV/AIDS, intimate partner violence, substance use, mental health, and the social determinants of health.

Dr. Rountree has held academic and leadership positions at The University of Texas at Austin, Arizona State University, Columbia University, Boston University, and Brandeis University. Her scholarship focuses on culturally responsive interventions and addressing disparities in health and social service systems. She has secured multi-million-dollar grant funding, published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, and received numerous honors, including induction into the UT Academy of Distinguished Teachers and Teacher of the Year at Tohono O'odham Community College. Her work is dedicated to strengthening communities, mentoring future social work professionals, and addressing systemic inequities affecting historically marginalized populations.
