In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Michael Vinella and received a Ph.D. in K-12 Educational Leadership from Walden University, M.Ed in Administration and Supervision from Kean University, and BA Economics from Rutgers University. He has worked at Walden University since 2008 teaching courses, working as a committee chair and second member, facilitating residencies, and serving on various university committees. He has conducted extensive research on the implementation of professional learning communities, technology integration and curriculum/assessment development. He worked internationally and domestically in the private sector before moving into education. He served as the NJPSA President and Board Member. In 2020, Michael was named NASSP NJ Principal of the Year and NJPSA/FEA Visionary Principal of the Year. He currently serves as the NASSP State Coordinator for NJ and serves on the Executive Committee of NJSIAA. Michael has also served on many state and national committees, and most recently served as the Co-Chair of the Governors Dual Enrollment Commission. He also works as a NJPSA Field Representative and serves as a mentor for NJ Leaders to Leaders.
