Dr. Melyse Peru is an educator and organizational development specialist with over 15 years of experience in leadership development, talent management, and applied psychology. At Walden University, Dr. Peru serves as an adjunct faculty member, supporting students in their academic and professional development through teaching, coaching, and mentoring within the I/O Psychology program.

She holds a PhD from Heriot-Watt ​University (Edinburgh Business School), a ​MBA from MidAmerica Nazarene University and a Bachelor ​of Arts in Communication Studies from New Mexico State University.

Her primary research interests include the cross-cultural validity of emotional intelligence assessments, particularly within non-Western contexts such as the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. She specializes in the design and interpretation of psychometric instruments, executive coaching, and the development of culturally responsive leadership frameworks.

Dr. Peru’s professional background includes senior roles in corporate learning and development, including leading leadership programs for Saudi Aramco and managing global talent initiatives in the nonprofit and consulting sectors. She has served as an external examiner for professional training certification programs in leadership and HR.

She has led the large-scale rollout of several leadership development programs focused on driving organizational change, building resilience, and promoting well-being and emotional intelligence across multinational teams. Her work blends strategic insight with practical application to support thriving, human-centered workplaces.
