Dr. Lakesha Roney is a Licensed Professional Counselor and clinical supervisor based in Virginia. She holds a B.S. in Psychology and an M.Ed. in Counseling from Virginia State University, and a Doctor of Education with a Counseling Psychology concentration in Education and Supervision from Argosy University. Licensed since 2005, she is also an ACS Certified Clinical Supervisor and a Registered Supervisor for LPC, LMFT, LSATP, and CSAC.
As owner of Inner Self Counseling and Consulting LLC since 2007, Dr. Roney provides outpatient counseling, consultation, trainings, and clinical supervision. In supervisory and consulting roles, she partners with organizations to strengthen clinical programs—assessing needs, streamlining operations, improving quality, and supporting sustainable growth. She also supervises residents in counseling and interns.
Her professional experience spans outpatient and inpatient psychotherapy and case management, residential therapy, administrative and clinical supervision, program leadership across community, higher‑education, and non‑profit settings, licensure supervision, curriculum and policy development, accreditation work, training design and facilitation, and service on multidisciplinary teams and task forces.
Leadership & Service: Executive Board, Virginia Counselors Association (VCA) — President (2024–2025), Past‑President (2025–2026). Co‑founder, Virginia Counselors for Social Justice (2023). Former roles include VCA Treasurer, Co‑Chair of the Racial Justice & Diversity Committee, and Chair Council; Past President, Richmond Area Counselors Association; Member, American Counseling Association.
