In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Kylee Delaporta is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Licensed Applied Behavior Analyst, and educator with extensive experience supporting neurodiverse learners, families, and school systems. She has worked in special education for more than 16 years and has practiced as a BCBA for 11 years, providing applied behavior analysis services across public schools, private ABA programs, and district-level consultation. Her work includes functional behavior assessments, behavior intervention planning, crisis prevention, professional development, and collaborative student and family support.
Dr. Delaporta currently serves as a District BCBA and Safety-Care Instructor, where she leads behavior systems development, staff training, parent education, and individualized student programming across school settings. Her primary areas of academic interest include autism spectrum disorder, compassionate and trauma-assumed behavior supports, educational equity, neurodiversity-affirming practice, and school-based ABA implementation.
Her doctoral research examined teacher perceptions of students with High Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder, with a focus on gender differences in expectations, experience, and classroom support. In addition to her clinical and district-level work, Dr. Delaporta is committed to preparing and mentoring future behavior analysts and educators. She provides supervision and applied mentoring to Registered Behavior Technicians and graduate-level BCBA candidates, emphasizing ethical decision-making, meaningful application of ABA in real-world settings, and confident, competent professional practice that helps students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
