Dr. Kristal James has been teaching in higher education since 2009. She has over 20 years of experience working with children and adolescents, especially those with disabilities and suicidal ideation. She primarily sees clients in a virtual environment and is a National Certified Counselor, Board Certified Telemental Health Provider, and an Approved Clinical Supervisor.

Dr. James joined the Walden team as core faculty in September, 2023. She has a lot of experience working with the CACREP accreditation process and enjoys mentoring students. She is currently the president of the Utah Mental Health Counselors Association and enjoys the professional connections formed as a result of this important organization.
