In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Kapil Nayar native to Philadelphia, is a licensed professional counselor with a forte in substance use disorder treatment. When it comes to addiction treatment, Kapil has worked within the field in various non profit and for profit treatment settings and currently still practices in a private practice setting. Kapil has been a source for grand jury investigations in the tri state area rippling into various parts of the country including Florida. Kapil has been a force for patient advocacy, social justice, citing research and information to hold corrupt, fraudulent treatment facilities accountable. Kapil has also participated with local and National reporting agencies both inside and outside of the counseling field across the country working closely with advocates who came before him. Most recently, Kapil has completed his dissertation and defended for a conferral of a PhD in Counseling, Education, and Supervision in February of 2025; and has participated anonymously in a documentary that has most recently debuted at SXSW 2025. The documentary that debuted Won SXSW 2025 Films and TV Award for Feature Competition. Kapil teaches at Walden University as a Mental Health Counseling faculty.
