In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Kafilat Oseni is a dedicated educator and mental health professional with a broad background in counseling, supervision, and research. She earned her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Walden University in 2024. Since November 2024, Dr. Oseni has served as a Contributing Faculty at Walden University, where she shares her expertise in counseling and research with graduate and doctoral students.
Dr. Oseni has extensive teaching experience, having previously worked as a teaching assistant for both master's and doctoral-level courses. She taught Research Theory, Design, and Methods at the master’s level and Research Methods and Program Evaluation at the doctoral level at Walden University. Additionally, Dr. Oseni served as a teaching assistant for Introduction to Abnormal Psychology at Albany State University, further solidifying her passion for education and mentoring students in the field of psychology and counseling.
Professionally, Dr. Oseni has worked in diverse settings, including community-based mental health services, psychiatric hospitals (both inpatient and outpatient), corrections, and with local law enforcement. She has also maintained a private practice, offering counseling services to individuals and families. Dr. Oseni is deeply committed to addressing mental health challenges across various populations and settings.
Dr. Oseni's current research interests focus on infertility among Nigerian women, a subject she hopes to expand upon in her future work, with an emphasis on understanding the unique cultural, social, and psychological aspects related to infertility in this population. She is dedicated to contributing meaningful research that supports the mental and emotional well-being of marginalized communities.
