In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Julia Krulee is thrilled to be a contributing faculty member at Walden University. She recently completed her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of the Cumberlands. She was honored to be a member of Chi Sigma Iota, the counseling academic and professional honor society. Her journey in education and counseling has been deeply rewarding, and she is excited to bring her experiences and passion for mental health to the classroom. Over the years, Dr. Krulee has been dedicated to fostering a learning environment where students feel supported and encouraged to grow both personally and professionally.
She has been teaching online at Northwestern University for over four years, where she has guided master’s students in various counseling courses. Her teaching philosophy centers around the belief that every student is unique, bringing valuable life experiences that enrich collective learning. Dr. Krulee strives to create an inclusive classroom atmosphere where open dialogue is encouraged, and students can develop their skills and knowledge in a supportive setting. Her expertise includes marriage and family counseling, ethics, and social justice advocacy. She is passionate about helping students find their own voice and approach in counseling and looks forward to seeing how each will contribute to the discussions.
In addition to her academic work, Dr. Krulee is a licensed clinical mental health counselor in Massachusetts and Connecticut, where she owns a private practice. Her clinical practice focuses on providing high-quality mental health services, and she integrates this real-world experience into the classroom to help bridge theory and practice. Dr. Krulee is also deeply involved in professional development and research, particularly interested in telemental health and its impact on the therapeutic alliance. She is eager to share her insights and learn from students' perspectives as they explore the complexities of counseling together. Dr. Krulee looks forward to making this an incredible learning journey.
