Jeri Cox
Dr. Cox PhD LPC NCC graduated with a Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision, Master in Mental Health Counseling, and Bachelor in Psychology. Her dissertation was focused on resilience development of young adults who experienced parental abandonment.
Dr. Cox has been an educator since 2015 and in the field of mental health since 2010. Courses previously taught have included but are not limited to Principles of Psychopharmacology, Clinical Assessment and Diagnosis, Assessments Tests and Measures, Substance Use and Addition, and Research Methods and Program Evaluation.
She has previously held positions as a Director of Clinical Services at Residential Treatment facilities, Mental Health Facility Director for a correctional facility and has done work as an intensive in home worker, mental health skill building, lead clinician, clinical supervisor, and outpatient therapy. She has had training in TF-CBT, EMDR, Treatment for Personality Disorders, and DBT. She have facilitated numerous presentations for professional development of mental health professions.
She encourages and promotes open communication. Her approach to teaching is constructivist, she believes in building on the strengths and current knowledge of learners in efforts to build upon existing knowledge and better understand and apply new concepts.
