In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.
Disclaimers: Walden students have up to 8 years to complete their doctoral program unless they petition for an extension.
In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Jennifer Bell Jenkins recieved her PhD in Counselor Education & Supervision from Capella University. She received her MAEd in Counselor Education from Virginia Tech. She currently serves as contributing faculty in the School of Counseling for Walden University. Dr. Jenkins will be teaching in a variety of counselor education courses. She has previously taught Theories of Counseling, Counseling Strategies, Couples & Family Counseling, Group Counseling, MultiCultural Counseling, and many other counseling courses at other universities. Professionally, Dr. Jenkins has worked as a licensed School Counselor, Intensive In-Home Counselor and currently maintains a private practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). She also maintains a Registered Play Therapist credential (RPT) and maintains a Board-Certified Telemental Health (BC-TMH) certification. She has published in the International Journal of Play Therapy and has presented at multiple conferences on disability and autism spectrum disorders.
