In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Fink has a BA in Sociology from The College of Wooster, a Master of Social Science Administration MSSA from Case Western Reserve University, and a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from The University of Akron. Among other settings, she has worked in public and private social service and counseling agencies, psychological services settings, and community agencies providing her with experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. Additionally, she has worked as the Director of the Catholic Social Services Bureau, a nonprofit agency, and Director of Counseling and Accessibility Services with responsibilities for all regional branches of a large university. Dr. Fink is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor Supervisor in Ohio and a National Certified Counselor.
Dr. Fink holds an additional license as a Licensed Independent Social Work Supervisor, a national certification through the American Council of Social Workers, and an International Certification as a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist through The International Association of Eating Disorder Specialists.
Dr. Fink has over twenty-three years of experience teaching in departments of counseling, social work, and education.
Dr. Fink currently serves as a contributing faculty member for Walden University, in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, School of Counseling.
