In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Faye Autry obtained her bachelor’s degree from Saint Vincent College in Political Science. Dr. Autry then served six years of active duty in the United States Air Force, where she was an Airborne Surveillance Technician aboard the E-3 Sentry (AWACS). During her service to her country, she earned her first master's degree in Human Relations from The University of Oklahoma. After Dr. Autry became a disabled veteran she wanted to continue to serve her community as a teacher. She, therefore, became certified in Oklahoma to teach students with Severe/Profound Disabilities, Mild/Moderate Disabilities, English, US History, Oklahoma History, Government, and Economics. Dr. Autry completed her second master’s degree in Special Education from the University of Oklahoma as a Secondary Transition Education Scholar. Dr. Autry taught special education for several years at both the middle and high school level before she was accepted full-time into The University of Oklahoma's doctoral program.
Dr. Faye Autry earned her Ph.D. with a focus in Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) and Special Education & Transition. She also completed her field hours at a behavioral clinic and then later at a medical facility that provided specialized services (including education) for children with Intellectual Disabilities and Autism. Dr. Autry is now a Board Certified Behavior Analyst-Doctoral (BCBA-D) with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) and a Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA) with the Oklahoma Licensed Behavior Analyst Board (OLBAB). Her research emphasis is in Special Education Transition, ABA, Autism, and Equine-Assisted Activities and Therapies. Dr. Autry has had her research published in several peer-reviewed journals (See Publications Below). She has also presented on these topics for several years at numerous international conferences (e.g., Council for Exceptional Children, Division on Career Development and Transition, and Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International) as well as taught these subjects at several universities (East Central University, Texas A&M International, and Martinsburg) as an adjunct professor. Currently, she works full-time as a telehealth BCBA for several clinics within Oklahoma and is a part-time Applied Behavioral Analyst Adjust Professor at Walden University. In her spare time Dr. Autry also owns and manages a successful Beef & Hay Agricultural business with her husband in rural Oklahoma.
