Dr. J. Dontaè Roberts is a social work scholar-practitioner whose work centers on racial trauma, fatherhood, housing equity, and mental health. He earned his Ph.D. in Health and Human Sciences/Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and North Carolina A&T State University, where his dissertation examined the effects of racial discrimination on African American fathers’ mental health and parenting satisfaction.

He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), a Certified Clinical Supervisor, a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, and a Program Management Professional. Dr. Roberts currently serves as a Research Associate and Program Coordinator with UNCG’s Center for Housing and Community Studies, where he leads projects focused on housing conditions, community health, and support for justice-involved populations. He is also a Postdoctoral Fellow with the NIH-funded North Carolina Translational and Clinical Sciences Institute (NC TraCS), examining structural inequities in health research and medical knowledge.

Dr. Roberts brings over a decade of academic experience, having previously served as a Visiting Professor at Winston-Salem State University and as a Professor of Clinical Practice at UNC Greensboro. His teaching spans social work policy, human behavior, data analysis, and trauma-responsive practice.
