Darrin L. Bush is a Contributing Faculty member in the BS in Psychology Program at Walden University, where he supports student learning through course instruction, mentoring, and academic engagement. His formal teaching background is in psychology and sociology, and he has over 15 years of experience in higher education, mental health services, and social services.
At Walden, Bush facilitates undergraduate psychology courses within the School of Interdisciplinary Undergraduate Studies. He draws from both academic and real-world experience to help students apply psychological theory to practice, with a focus on ethical standards, social responsibility, and community impact.
His primary areas of research and subject matter expertise include healthcare disparities, mental health access, and the psychosocial impact of HIV among underserved populations in rural communities. He is especially interested in the application of the biopsychosocial model in addressing systemic inequalities.
Bush’s professional background includes extensive experience in teaching, curriculum development, case management, and pastoral counseling. He has served on curriculum and academic affairs committees and is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Psychological Association and the National Social Sciences Association. He also holds certifications in educational psychology and online teaching.
Among his major accomplishments are his leadership in curriculum innovation, contributions to student success initiatives, and his long-standing service as a Baptist pastor.
