In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr Cristina Winters has been working in the nursing field since 1995. As an RN, she worked in Med/Surg, Surgical ICU, OR and PACU. She served in the Army as an RN. Upon her discharge, she earned her MSN as a Family Nurse Practitioner and worked for 10 years in primary care, urgent care and pain management. She received her DNP in 2014, and her Post Masters in Nursing Education in 2015 and has been teaching since 2014. She went on to earn her Post Masters in Psych/Mental Health as she wanted to work with Veterans to help with their mental health needs. She currently works at the VA in San Antonio, Texas. Her husband is also an Army Veteran and a CRNA. Her oldest son is an Army Veteran and is working on a second degree in Mechanical Engineering. Her middle son is in college working on his degree in Computer Science/Cybersecurity Concentration with a minor in Criminal Justice and plans to join the military as an officer upon graduation. Her youngest son is in the Navy and is currently in Corpsman school. Her military career and her families service and dedication to our country is why she is so passionate about Veterans Health.
