In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Christopher L. Maith Sr. received his Ph.D. in Social Work from Morgan State University School of Social Work in 2023. Dr. Maith also received his Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from Morgan State University in 2006 and his Master of Social Work Degree (MSW) in 2007. Dr. Maith currently serves as the Founder & CEO of Community Bridge Builders LLC., a human services consulting and education agency. Dr. Maith also serves as the Director of Community-Based Programs at a prominent non-profit agency in Maryland. Dr. Maith is a part-time faculty member at Walden with over five years of teaching experience in social work and general studies. Dr. Maith has been a field liaison for the first year of MSW students for the past four years. In addition, Dr Maith has taught economics, U.S. history, and politics. Professionally, Dr. Maith has served on research committees at Morgan State University and collaborated with extensive city and state governments to complete critical research projects. Dr. Maith’s passion is in community-based social work practice, and he completed his dissertation research related to community-based practice. Dr. Maith has accumulated two decades of experience in the human services and social work industry. He has provided direct and indirect services in office and community-based practices within Baltimore, Maryland, and York, Pennsylvania. Dr. Maith has several publications and seeks to continue to contribute to the field of social work with his writings.
