Cheryl Mesikano Tyler

Brief Biography
Dr. Cheryl R. Mesikano Tyler is a psychotherapist, industrial-organizational practitioner, educator, speaker, and consultant whose interdisciplinary training spans industrial–organizational psychology, counseling psychology, and addiction counseling/ treatment. With more than 15 years of professional experience across clinical practice, higher education, behavioral health leadership, and organizational consulting, she has dedicated her career to advancing individual well-being, workforce effectiveness, and systems-level change.
At Walden University, Dr. Tyler serves as a contributing faculty member and dissertation chair within doctoral psychology programs. In this role, she mentors doctoral learners in research design, methodology, scholarly writing, and the successful completion of the doctoral capstone. Her teaching and mentorship emphasize the development of scholar–practitioners who apply evidence-based research to address complex organizational and societal challenges.
Dr. Tyler's professional background includes leadership in clinical program development, graduate instruction, workforce development initiatives, and organizational consulting. She is the founder and clinical director of a private behavioral health and business consulting practice established in 2017, where she provides therapy and counseling, clinical supervision and assessment, and business consulting. Throughout her career, she has led initiatives focused on a wide range of applications of clinical work, higher education program development and delivery, and integrating work on employee well-being, psychological safety, leadership development, and organizational effectiveness across behavioral health, hospitals, residential rehabilitation, non-profit agencies, and corporate environments.
Her scholarly and professional contributions include presentations on trauma, crisis intervention, workforce development, and behavioral health systems. She has also contributed to research examining counselor experiences, workforce sustainability, and systemic barriers affecting service delivery. Her work reflects a strong commitment to positive social change through the integration of psychological science, clinical practice, and organizational development.
