In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Carolyn S. Seidl earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from Capella University in 2024 and her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Bellin College in 2007. She began her career in nursing education in 2007 as an Associate Degree Nursing instructor at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. She later transitioned to Aurora BayCare Medical Center, where she developed and implemented hospital-wide orientation programs and department-specific training initiatives.
In 2013, Dr. Seidl completed her Post-Graduate Certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner. As a Nurse Practitioner, she has practiced in Urgent Care, Family Practice, Corporate Wellness, and Digestive Health. She currently serves as a Nurse Practitioner in Corporate Wellness in Wisconsin, where she has more than a decade of experience managing and operating two corporate wellness clinics. Her practice emphasizes preventive care and whole-person wellness for individuals, families, and employee populations.
Dr. Seidl holds RN and NP licensure in both Wisconsin and Minnesota. She is a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) and a Certified Nurse Practitioner, bringing over 20 years of nursing experience to her clinical and academic roles. Since 2015, she has served as a Clinical Preceptor for Nurse Practitioner students at Walden University. In 2021, she joined Walden University’s College of Nursing as Clinical Faculty, further advancing her commitment to educating and mentoring the next generation of nursing professionals
