Dr. Carmela Daniels Shackleford-Daniels

Dr. Carmela Daniels, DSW, LISW-S, is a licensed clinical social worker, educator, consultant, and national leader with more than 20 years of experience in behavioral health, homelessness services, leadership development, racial equity initiatives, and higher education. She has served within the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for over 16 years, specializing in homeless programs, trauma-informed care, case management, coordinated entry, interdisciplinary collaboration, and community-based interventions.
Dr. Daniels has taught social work courses at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels, with expertise in social work practice, leadership, anti-oppressive practice, ethics, families, and community engagement. She is also a CARF International surveyor and consultant supporting organizations in accreditation readiness, quality improvement, and program development.
Her scholarship and presentations focus on racial equity, homelessness, leadership, trauma-informed practice, social justice, and systems change within behavioral health and human service settings.
