In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. C. Bruce Gardner, Sr. is originally from Detroit, commonly known as “The Motor City.” He has enjoyed a fulfilling marriage for 38 years and is a proud father of four and grandfather of nine. He strongly believes that the story of a nation reflects the stories of its families on a broader scale. As a lifelong learner, he embodies the principles of servant leadership, integrating empathy and compassion into his comprehensive teaching philosophy.
Currently, Dr. Gardner serves as a faculty member at Walden University, where he instructs courses in general psychology and statistics. He has also held important positions as a Dissertation Committee Member and Chair across various Schools of Health and Behavioral Science Programs.
Dr. Gardner obtained his PhD in Psychology from Northcentral University, an MA in Community Services from Michigan State University, an MA in Religion from Liberty Theological Seminary, and possesses dual BS degrees in Bible and Organizational Leadership from Grace University.
With four decades of experience in spiritual, military, personal, and professional development, Dr. Gardner is an ordained clergy member who combines the principles of psychology, theology, and sociology to promote student success. He highlights the significance of humility, self-awareness, situational awareness, and the idea of “long obedience in the same direction” as essential for nurturing personal and academic growth.
He is dedicated to fostering academic and personal development through Socratic methods, exploring various disciplines, coaching and mentoring, and inspiring others with tools for academic, spiritual, and personal advancement. Additionally, he expresses his support for both the Cowboys and the Lions.
