In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Brittany Freeman-Anderson, is a behavioral health leader, educator, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), with over 20 years of clinical and professional experience. She holds a Doctorate in Behavioral Health Leadership from Walden University. Her areas of specialization include grief and loss, trauma-informed care, counselor supervision and education, and the application of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Dr. Freeman-Anderson serves as an adjunct faculty member at Walden University in the Behavioral Health Leadership program, where she facilitates graduate-level learning focused on leadership development, systems thinking, and the application of evidence-based practices in behavioral health settings. Her teaching emphasizes the integration of theory, research, and practice. Her scholarly and professional interests include grief across the lifespan, the impact of trauma on the grieving process, and the development of clinicians through supervision, training, and reflective practice.
In addition to her academic role, Dr. Freeman-Anderson is the Founder and CEO of A Freeman’s Place Counseling, a licensed mental health clinic in East Brunswick, New Jersey. Her professional work includes developing and delivering trainings and workshops for clinicians and multidisciplinary teams, with a focus on grief, emotional regulation, and behavioral health leadership.
