Dr. Ashley Lockhart's formal training is in nursing education and leadership and in psychiatric nursing practice where she has served in various roles throughout her career. Clinical roles include emergency nursing, inpatient and community mental health nursing, and most currently, as a practitioner in an outpatient community mental health setting. Teaching includes both clinical and didactic roles in psychiatric nursing. Dr. Lockhart has been teaching in this field at Walden University since 2021. Past research includes implementation of a mindfulness-based stress reduction program for staff on an inpatient psychiatric unit, and implementation of an educational plan to emergency department staff regarding improving the physical health of the mentally ill.
