Alyson Mullen

Dr. Mullen is a licensed marriage and family therapist, licensed clinical alcohol and drug counselor, educator, and behavioral health leader with more than a decade of clinical, leadership, and teaching experience. She serves as a faculty member in Walden University's graduate counseling programs, where she teaches future counselors and emphasizes evidence-based, trauma-informed, and systems-oriented practice.

Dr. Mullen's professional experience centers on community behavioral health and integrated systems of care. She specializes in the assessment and treatment of serious mental illness, co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, and behavioral health crises. Her clinical expertise includes suicide risk assessment and intervention, crisis stabilization, trauma-informed care, clinical supervision, and behavioral health program development. In addition to her clinical work, she has held leadership roles focused on improving access to behavioral health services, strengthening clinical quality, and advancing integrated models of care within community behavioral health settings.

Dr. Mullen's research interests include perinatal mental health, substance use disorders, and gambling disorder. Her work focuses on translating research into practice to improve behavioral health treatment, expand access to evidence-based care, and strengthen outcomes for individuals, families, and communities.
