Allison Nunes

Dr. Allison Nunes is currently serving as an Adjunct Professor of Special Education and University Supervisor for MA students, bringing over seven years of experience supervising undergraduate and graduate teacher candidates during Demonstration Teaching and clinical practice. In these university roles, Dr. Nunes supports teacher preparation through instruction grounded in evidence-based practice, provides formative and summative supervision, and utilizes Canvas and Taskstream to support assessment, program evaluation, and accreditation alignment.

A multi-year Teacher of the Year recipient, Dr.Nunes holds a doctorate focused on inclusive instructional strategies, aligning strongly with Walden University’s commitment to equity, access, and holistic learning. As a scholar-practitioner, Dr. Nunes integrates academic expertise with field-based mentoring to prepare candidates for success in diverse classroom environments.

Dr. Nunes brings over 30 years of professional experience across the full continuum of special education services, including Moderate Cognitive Impairment (MCI), self-contained classrooms, and inclusive settings. This experience is complemented by 17 years of strategic Central Office leadership, with demonstrated expertise in the operational and fiscal management of complex special education programs.
A specialist in high-impact literacy interventions, including Sonday and Orton-Gillingham methodologies, Dr. Nunes is deeply committed to mentoring future educators and advancing inclusive excellence through research-informed practice and compassionate leadership.
